THIS IS MY GRANDPARENTS. They married in the 1930s, as the political winds of Europe turned sharply to the right. We all know the darkness that followed.

My wish is for everyone to have the chance to choose their own life, just as my grandparents did—whether to marry or not, whether to live with a man or a woman. Life is the one true gift we have been given. Help me shine a spotlight on lesbians and queers—a group that, in my opinion, is at risk of remaining in an invisible bubble.
